Sizing & Setup
What size ball should I order?
The Gentle Birth Ball is 65 cm — designed for those 5 ft 11 in and under. When fully inflated, your hips and knees should rest at a 90° angle when seated.
If you are taller than 5 ft 11 in, a 75 cm ball is more appropriate (we will be expanding our size range soon).
How do I inflate the ball?
The ball arrives deflated, with a hand pump and care card included. Inflate it gradually over 24 hours — fully inflate, let sit overnight, then top off the next day. This allows the PVC to fully expand without stress.
Do not over-inflate. The ball should have some give — firm but not rigid.
How do I know if it is the right firmness?
When you sit, you should sink slightly — about an inch — and your hips and knees should fall into a 90° angle. If you are sinking too far, add more air. If your knees are higher than your hips, deflate slightly.
Care & Use
How do I clean the ball?
Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and mild soap if needed. Avoid harsh chemicals — they can degrade the surface and the printed silhouettes over time.
Will the silhouettes wear off?
The silhouettes are printed using a process designed to bond with the PVC surface — they are durable and meant to last the life of the ball. Avoid abrasive cleaners and rough surfaces to keep them crisp.
Is the ball safe to use during pregnancy?
Yes — birth balls are widely recommended by doulas, midwives, and OBs throughout pregnancy. The ball is anti-burst, BPA-free, and rated to 300 lbs.
That said, every body and pregnancy is different. If you have questions about whether the ball is right for you, please consult your care provider before use.
Can I use it after birth too?
Absolutely. The ball is designed for the full arc — pregnancy, labor, and postpartum recovery. Many women use it daily for months after birth, both for gentle pelvic floor work and as a soothing place to rock or bounce a baby.
Shipping
How long does shipping take?
Orders ship from California within 2–3 business days. Standard shipping arrives in 5–7 business days within the continental US.
Expedited and international shipping available at checkout.
Is shipping free?
Free standard shipping on all orders over $50 within the continental US. Orders under $50 ship for a flat $7.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes — we ship to Canada, the UK, EU, and Australia. International shipping rates and delivery times are calculated at checkout. Customs and duties are the responsibility of the recipient.
Returns
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery, in original condition (unused, deflated and re-packaged). Email us at hello@gentlebirthball.com to begin a return.
Once received, refunds are processed within 3–5 business days.
What if my ball arrives damaged?
Reach out within 7 days of delivery and we will send a replacement at no charge. Photos of the damage and original packaging help us process quickly.
